They Never Cease Planning their Next Attack

Search for MH370 Continues. As I have frequently noted, my novel Vanished Flight 777 is intended as an entertaining thriller and, more importantly, a thought experiment. It is not intended as a specific prophecy or explanation, but hopefully an eye-opener to some of the possibilities of what the relentless enemies of civilization are capable of. It is no mystery that the terrorists know how to manipulate the media for propaganda effect—although their grisly and hateful tantrums are hardly persuasive except to a small minority of minds as psychotic as their own.

Islamic Terrorism and Flight MH370 May Be Linked; Other Shoe Yet To Drop. Today, the world press reflects on the anniversary of the worst attack on the United States since Pearl Harbor. Many U.S. news organizations have devoted entire pages to 9/11 Anniversary coverage: CNN; BBC; MSNBC; PBS; etc. Whether the next terror attack comes on this anniversary, or another anniversary, or any day of the year is moot; it will come. Whether the employed tool is a hijacked airliner like MH370, or a train (Madrid), or a bus system (London), or some other form of transportation (car bomb?), the attack will happen and we must out-think them. It is an open question whether they dropped the MH370 black boxes in the southern Indian Ocean to keep the West misled while they weaponize the lost aircraft and use it in the next terror attack.

Savagery as Culture; Beheading, Waterboarding, Anyone? While the world is horrified that ISIS employs beheadings and torture as a matter of propaganda, Al Jazeera notes that this type of savagery is common-place in the Arab world. So why are we surprised at the display of ghoulishness by the out-of-control juvenile thugs of ISIS? It's not just Arabs: After the 1979 revolution, the regime and its Revolutionary Guards employed mobile torture chambers to rove from town to town in Iran, randomly selecting individuals to torment and murder. We learn also that the Bush-Cheney regime in the US used un-Constitutional methods of torture, in violation of the Geneva Conventions of a saner U.S. government during World War II, to waterboard suspected Al Qaeda terrorists without trial—shuffling them around the world to secret prisons (extraordinary extradition, etc.) what the Nazis referred to as vanishing unter Nacht und Nebel (under Night and Fog, never to be seen again or heard from). Fortunately, despite corporate-Republican opposition, U.S. President Barack Obama has repudiated the methods of his predecessor. Hopefully the United States has now regained high moral ground, and can lead once again; and hopefully the barbaric states of the Koranic regions can rise to a higher level of moral awareness, abandoning their medieval practices. If established governments cannot lead by moral example, how are we to expect any better from the type of fanatical, opportunistic thugs who lead rogue anarchy movements?
